Nigel Kennedy: Tatra Mountains 'are timeless'

Travellers who are keen to get back to basics and enjoy the wide open countryside during their family activity holidays in Slovakia have been urged to head to the Tatra Mountains.

Nigel Kennedy, the violinist and composer, said the peaks are a great source of inspiration when he is trying to create new music.

Speaking to The Times, Kennedy revealed he heads to the Tatra Mountains whenever he comes down with a severe case of writers' block so that he can enjoy the serenity of the summits.

"It's great to have a place where there's no noise and the mountains are timeless," he told the newspaper.

He went on to state that people who visit the Tatras during their family activity holidays will be blown away by the hospitality of the region, saying: "The neighbours take pity on me. They think I can't cook and I'm suffering, so they bring me pierogi (a local dish)."
