Petra and Dana 'to be connected by trekking route'

Travellers may have another reason to book Jordan holidays soon after the kingdom revealed plans to open a new hiking trail.

Currently, those who set off on Jordan holidays are able to enjoy the desert wilderness of Wadi Rum and the famous lost city of Petra, among its many other attractions.

According to The Jordan Times, the proposed new trekking route will run from Petra - which was carved out of a mountain-side thousands of years ago - to the Dana Biosphere Reserve.

Director of the reserve Amer Rfou told the newspaper that Dana, which was established more than 20 years ago, is well worth a visit during Jordan holidays thanks to its diverse animal and plant life.

It contains 50 per cent of the kingdom's flora, Mr Rfou explained.

Travellers who are keen to explore the city of Petra, as well as the natural treasure that is the nature reserve, should check out the details of The Adventure Company's Journey to the Lost City trip.
