Enjoy the 'peace and tranquillity' of Rabat

Rabat can often be overlooked by people on Morocco holidays, but one travel writer has claimed it is well worth a visit nonetheless.

Anouk Zijlma, a correspondent for About.com, pointed out that the city is a less famous attraction for tourists than the likes of Marrakech or Fez, despite the fact it is the North African country's capital.

However, the journalist went on to explain that there is plenty to recommend about Rabat as a stopping point during Morocco holidays, including the fact that it is different to the majority of the country's other big cities.

"It's a peaceful city by Moroccan standards, less hustle and grit than Casablanca," Ms Zijlma commented. "Check out the medina, the kasbah and just enjoy the ocean breeze and relative tranquillity."
