Morocco holidays 'more popular with Brits'

Newly-released official figures have revealed that Morocco holidays are becoming increasingly popular.

Published by the North African country's Tourism Observatory, the stats show that the number of people who jetted off on Morocco holidays during the first four months of 2010 has surged in comparison to last year.

Between January and February, some 2.39 million travellers visited the country to take in attractions such as the bustling city of Marrakech and trek the Atlas Mountains.

This marks an increase of 11 per cent on the number of people who took Morocco holidays during the same four-month period in 2009, reports Agence Maghreb Arabe Presse.

Morocco holidays proved to be particularly attractive to British tourists, with 128,000 heading there in the first third of the year - up 19 per cent on last year, a bigger rise than visitors from France, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Holland or Italy.

Anyone who is eager to see what all the fuss is about should check out the details of The Adventure Company's Atlas Adventure walking holiday, which takes in Marrakech and the mountains.
