Solo traveller 'took in the sights and sounds of Turkey's Lycian Coast'

A solo traveller has recounted some of his favourite holidays, including a trip to Turkey's Lycian coast.

Justice David Byrne, 70, is retiring from life in the judicial chambers of Australia's Supreme Court after 20 years.

He told The Age that he is planning to spend his retirement devoting more of his time to solo holidays.

Justice Byrne has previous experience of these types of trips - two years ago he hiked on the 510km Lycian Way and has also rambled through the Cotswolds.

"I like walking. It's quite a meditative thing, particularly if you are on a road where you don't have to look where your feet are going - you just sort of settle into a rhythm. It's a great feeling," he remarked.
