New ?5m clifftop railway installed in Dubrovnik

Those who go on a cultural discovery trip to Dubrovnik will soon be able to gain a new perspective on the city.

A clifftop train service to the top of the Srnj hill is being installed at a cost of €5 million (£4.15 million), reports the Croatian Times.

Real-estate firm Excelsa nekretnine is leading the project, the completion of which is set to coincide with the city's summer games on July 10th 2010.

Up to 30 passengers will be able to ride on the four-minute trip, which offers spectacular views of the city. Tickets for the service cost €10 each.

Travellers keen to take advantage of the new attraction may wish to book onto The Adventure Company's Adriatic Adventure break, which gives people the chance to roam Dubrovnik on a free day.

Sea kayaking, hiking and biking are also included in the trip, which balances energetic sports with cultural sights and sounds.
