Family activity holidays in the Himalayan foothills 'are truly magical'

Daily Telegraph columnist John Stock embarked on an Indian tour of the region with his children recently and said it has a truly magical quality.

He trekked a route through the Indian region of the mountain range, which bordered Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan.

The trip offered the chance to learn more about Buddhism during stop-offs in small villages in and around Sikkim.

Mr Stock recounted: "The walking itself, about eight miles a day traversing terraced hillsides through farmsteads, villages and temples, was full of gentle adventure."

He added that he hopes to have the opportunity to visit the region again.
