Machu Picchu tours 'dream break for many holidaymakers'

British holidaymakers are foregoing traditional beach breaks for exotic trips such as Machu Picchu tours.

This is according to a survey by finance firm swiftcover.com, which found that UK tourists are becoming "more adventurous".

Some 14 per cent of respondents said Machu Picchu tours would be their holiday of a lifetime, while ten per cent said safari holidays are their dream sojourns.

White-water rafting (23 per cent) and rock climbing (six per cent) were among the activities which get British travellers' pulses racing.

Travel underwriting manager at swiftcover.com Roman Bryl said it was interesting that Britons are getting more of a taste for adventure.

"While travelling to somewhere exotic like India or Machu Picchu may be a holiday of a lifetime, it is certainly within reach for many UK holidaymakers," he added.

Tourists planning their holiday of a lifetime should check out The Adventure Company's Machu Picchu tours or safari holidays.

The Teens on the Trail Teenage Adventure is well worth a look - it offers the chance to trek the Inca Trail and take part in rafting in the Sacred Valley.
