Pensioner prepares for record-breaking Kilimanjaro trek
A pensioner is preparing to set off on his Kilimanjaro trek tomorrow (July 7th 2010) as he aims to enter the record books.
George Solt, 82, hopes to become the oldest man to ever reach the summit on July 14th 2010.
Speaking to BBC News about his preparations recently, the Buckinghamshire resident said he has been hitting the gym, cycling and lifting weights.
He has also been working with a Territorial Army sergeant, Ghandi Daykin, as he aims to boost his stamina.
"I've been walking up and down the South Downs, which were specifically designed for people climbing Kilimanjaro," Mr Solt told the news provider.
The energetic pensioner is proof that age is no barrier to a Kilimanjaro trek - and The Adventure Company offers holidays to suit people whether they are 19 or 90.
