Kilimanjaro Trek

Climb Mt Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro Trek

We have years of experience taking passengers up Kilimanjaro and have built a long standing relationship with our local ground agent in Tanzania.

It’s our policy to employ locally to ensure as much money is invested into the local economy as possible. Through our local agent we employ a team of porters who take your main baggage everyday along with all the camping and cooking equipment.

Within the team there’s a chef who’ll do all the cooking, including warm soups at Kobo – soup will never have tasted so good - and warm cups of tea delivered to you first thing in the morning to help you enjoy the early views through the rising cloud.

The team will be led by experienced local mountain leaders; they know every inch of the mountain, and are skilled at judging the weather and the health and wellbeing of all in the party.

On our three trips last year 99%
of passengers rated their Group
Leader trip as ‘excellent’ or ‘good’

We also support a children’s Trust in Arusha –
helping educate and support underprivileged
children in the rural areas of the Rift Valley.
For every passenger who travels on our
Kilimanjaro trips we donate $5 – helping
improve the health and education standards
in the area.

Last year we took 259 passengers
to the top of Africa.

Our summit success rate is around 95%.

"I have just returned home from having successfully reached the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, which can best be described as a wonderful experience. I would like to congratulate you and your team on a very well managed and organised trip. Everyone involved in making our trip such a success which includes the guides, cooks and porters deserve a share of the praise."
Mr M Ellery

"A truly breathtaking trek, nothing better then seeing the awesome sunrise when you are about to reach the summit. This route is full of wonders and great views, recommended for any person to do!"
Tim Caron

Africa's Highest Point • World's tallest free-standing mountain

Trekking Kilimanjaro takes most people higher than they have ever been before. To do the trip you don’t need any technical mountain experience – but you will need to be reasonably fit. We have a fitness guide designed for people of all levels of fitness. It points you in the right direction, focusing your training in the right areas for this memorable event. The sense of achievement at the top will make the training worthwhile. Altitude sickness is always a concern and the major reason why people don’t complete Kilimanjaro. Our Group Leaders are there to look after you and will slow the pace accordingly to give you the best chance of making the summit. Don’t get preoccupied with this on the ascent - as it effects everyone differently there is no way to prepare for it.

Machame Route

Most challenging route • Access to the glacier

Arguably the most challenging option; the day walks are longer and steeper than the others, but your extra efforts are rewarded with breathtaking views of Kibo Peak, the eternal ice fields and Kili’s scree-covered dome. You’ll also enjoy great access to the remaining glacier and the Western Breach.

Marangu Route

Mountain huts • Diverse scenery

The classic, most straightforward, route up Kilimanjaro and you’ll stay in the relative comfort
of mountain huts. If you don’t like the idea of crawling into a tent after a day’s hiking this trip is for you. On your way up you’ll go through several ecosystems too; from lush rainforest and moorland to high altitude desert on the upper slopes.

Rongai Route

Best for wildlife spotting • Gradual ascent • Quieter route

This route offers a different perspective of the mountain as you approach from the northern side. The numbers on this route are strictly regulated so you get away from the crowds on your ascent, and as the route is only used for ascent you’ll use one of the other routes on your way down. It’s also the only route with views of the Masai lands too, so you’ll maybe see monkey, buffalo and elephant on the way up.

Kilimanjaro Extensions

Safari & Beach extensions

Having conquered Kili you might want to make the most of your time in Africa. We have
two extensions you can easily add onto your Kilimanjaro trip.

You can relax on the white beaches of Zanzibar and take a dip in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean or head off into the savannah in search of the big five.
