Antarctica and the High Arctic are two of the last great untouched wildernesses on Earth. A trip to one of these spectacular locations will take you on the ultimate adventure of a lifetime – to a land of white natural beauty, mesmerising emptiness and wonderful wildlife. Wander amongst the penguins in Antarctica or whale watch from your zodiac boat before jumping aboard your expedition ship to listen to our polar experts. There's no greater adventure than travelling to the ends of the earth.
The ships you sail on are small expedition ships, equipped for extreme conditions. The majority have twin share cabins with shared facilities and the chance to upgrade. All meals are provided in communal dining rooms, there's a well-stocked library and the chance to watch fascinating presentations on anything and everything polar. All our ships are complete with comfortable quarters and an expert crew and team of onboard specialists. Spend your time on deck spotting polar bears and emerald glaciers, practice your photography or learn about the hunting habits of local wildlife.
Each expedition vessel is equipped with a small inflatable boat - a Zodiac. From these small boats you take land excursions onto the frozen shores to get closer to the ice and wildlife accompanied by a host of experts, including marine biologists, geologists and historians, to bring the landscape to life. From your zodiac sit and watch as beluga whales surface or walk amongst the penguins.
We offer two winter expeditions into the remote, white wilderness of the Antarctic. Taking advantage of the warmer weather in the South Pole, cruise the Falklands, South Georgia and the Antarctic peninsula to spot penguin colonies and elephant seals while you learn both about the Falklands War and Shackleton’s epic journey. Or take our Antarctic Peninsula trip and spot wandering albatross, storm petrels and giant iceberg before you step onshore to meet spot seals and whale watch.
Our summer Spitzbergen Explorer takes you on a tour of ice and tundra to come face to face with whales, walruses and polar bears. Visit old whaling stations, search for the Beluga whale near the North Pole and visit 14 July glacier home to Arctic puffins and bearded seals. This trip is perfect for birdspotting so keep an eye out for Arctic terns, Arctic and long-tailed skuas, purple sandpipers and more.
Our Arctic & Northern Lights trip takes you on a voyage to the far corners of the Arctic Circle for adventure activities such as hiking and dog-sledging and viewing the stunning auroras borealis in the High Arctic. Travel around the Norwegian fjords with our Norway Cruise Astronomy Expedition. A magical northern lights tour with astronomy expert Dr John Mason or Ian Ridpath, to little fishing villages, past looming mountains and intot he Artic Circle.
