Wildlife and Moghul Cities 19 to 29 Oct 09

Welcome Guest, to make a post on the forum you need to login or register.

My wife and I are booked on the Wildlife and Moghul Cities trip leaving on 19 October and would be really pleased to hear from anyone else on the same trip. Last November I did Everest Base Camp with The Adventure Company and didn't bother with the forum - the result was a guessing game at Heathrow check in!

Hi Mike. I've just booked the trip today for Oct and all being well with my visa application (as I've left it a little last minute to get everything sorted) will be going. I should be fairly easy to spot at the check-in desk as I will be with my two year old, who will no doubt be causing chaos at that time of night, however he'll just be saying goodbye and not coming with me, thankfully!!!

Are you taking any particular equipment with you for the trip? I'm not sure if I should take walking shoes or if trainers will do?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for some handy tips... Visa sorted ok and I've had my jabs. Planning to pack on Friday and am now really looking forward to it. Not long to go at all.

Thanks for posting a picture; I shall look out for the two of you at the check-in desk. Have since arranged for my son to stay with his Grandparents a bit earlier so I will hopefully be a lot less stressed!!!

Attracting Tigers... hmmm... not sure I'll get through customs with a kilo of raw meat. I’ve been told that the tigers have all been fitted with trackers so the guides know of their whereabouts before we set off.

Hi jmerrony _ Mike and I have both got pictures up so come over and say Hello on Monday if you spot us before the flight.

Hi Bentlkej. Thanks for responding - you're the only one so far! I know there are 15 travelling so fingers crossed... Good luck with your visa - ours came back very quickly, no bother. We're planning to travel light (at least I am). I plan to take a pair of trainers and an old pair of sad and tatty lightweight 'desert' boots. Its going to be very hot. I have to stop myself taking all the stuff I went to Everest with last year just cos I've got it, but I reckon a sun hat and some good shades are going to come in handy! The trip kitlist looks ok. My wife plans to take a light headscarf for when we go in some of the touristy holy places where they ask women to cover up arms and shoulders, and I'm taking water treatment tablets cos I don't want to buy plastic bottles all the time. I also reckon I'll take a bandana against dust which really messed me up in Nepal.

If I can work out how to do it I'm going to add a photo so you/other people will recognise us at Heathrow. We'll look out for you, hopefully with not too much kiddy trauma going on. Its going to be a great trip - looking forward to meeting up! Bring something to attract tigers.

Hi Karen,

Stress-free at Heathrow? You must be joking.... We'll all be ready for that Jet red wine. We packed a couple of weeks ago - its nice to be excited about a trip.

Tigers with trackers? I think I actually believe you. Maybe they've worked out how to get them off!!

See you Monday

Hi jmerrony

Well done, good choice! I think the Adventure Co info and kitlist are pretty good, just come with what they recommend plus a sense of humour!! Look out for us and come and say Hi at Heathrow if you like,

Hi Jacky (and Karen)

Impressive - a visa only 2 days before going! Thanks for putting up a photo, we'll look out for you. We hope to turn up 3 hrs before the flight. Just checked out the Delhi weather - 93 deg, sun etc etc. Its going to be a great trip. Hope to see you at heathrow, otherwise it will be baggage reclaim at Delhi!! Regards

Hi Jacky and Karen

We're going to check in at Heathrow at 5.45pm or a little earlier if the desk is open. We'll look out for you.

This was the same flight I got last year and there were dozens of trekkers heading for Everest via a connecting flight to Kathmandu. I expect it will be the same tomorrow, so beware of people with big boots.

Jacky you'll have to start packing sooner or later...
