Hi Mac,
we went on the first tour to Nepal in September...an amazing time you will love it!!!! We just took our rucksacks, and made sure all clips were done up. We didn't have any problems with safety or breakages, but the abundance of tassels can 'occasionally' get caught on the conveyor belt. We did see other cling film their bags, but you will need something to cut this off when you get to Nepal Airport, as you will not want to carry it to the coach all wrapped up with your hand luggage also.
A tip when at Kathmandu airport...although you will easily meet your Adv. Comp, rep easily, do keep hold of your bag, there are lots of people very willing to be helpful with your bags, and you may think they are part of your rep, but they are not. Just be clear 'No thank you' and ONLY hand your bags to someone in Adv.Comp top (or Himalayan encounters), or put in the vehicle yourself. Alternatively just have a dollar or two in a pocket...DO NOT GET YOUR WALLET out. Our friend did this and they were in there insisting on a large note, and he ended up giving them $20 for carrying his back 50yds.
Do not let this panic you at all, as it is all a great experience, just be wary of what is going on. Hope this some what helped.
That's great frencie, will help a great deal, puts me mind at rest, and yes very much looking forward to it,thanks again :0)
