Kilimanjaro - Rongai Route - Sept 3 2010

Welcome Guest, to make a post on the forum you need to login or register.

Hi there,
I am attempting the Rongai route up Kili in September, and am a single traveller, so would very much like to get to know anyone else that's going on the trip, or anyone that can offer any tips or advice!
I will be celebrating my 30th birthday up there :)
I am so excited! :D

Yeah i think i may have to do a bit of training for this one, think it may be a bit different from the inca trail!!

I live in Cheshire.

Pennines are quite close, but other than that Cheshire is not best for mountain climb training, its quite a flat county!! May need some training notes, my form of training is cycling really.

May just have to find something else to get me ready for it!!

Excellent, have you or your Dad ever done anything like this before?
I was meant to be going with my best friend, but he joined the navy and had to cancel on me so I (possibly stupidly) decided to go it alone!

I have never done anything like this before, I am going to have to start taking my training a bit more seriously!
Where abouts in the UK are you?
I am in Wales, so will possibly be attempting Snowdon in a few weeks

I think I should actually start to climb mountains....walking on a treadmill on a slight incline is not going to cut it I don't think!
You've got the Pennines near you haven't you?
Have you got a training plan in mind? My boss recently climbed Kili and has given me all of her personal trainer notes, they are not great, but its a start, let me know if you want a copy

Well, thats my training done for 6 weeks!
I played in a rugby tournament on Saturday and have fractured 2 of my ribs...have been told not to train for up to 6 weeks :(
You and your Dad may have to carry me up! :P
