Kilimanjaro - Rongai Route- 26/27th August
Just to set up a forum for this trip in case people want to chat. I am travelling alone to join this trip in country at the Capricorn hotel in Marangu (flying in KLM on the 25th August) and looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hello David,
Tracey and I are also on this trip and taking the KLM option from Manchester on the 25th but staying the first night i believe in the Kia Lodge .
Regards
James
Hi James and Tracey,
I am flying from Leeds/Bradford into Amsterdam rather than from Manchester but will hopefully see you in Amsterdam for the leg onto Kili. I have arranged a private transfer onto the Capricorn on arrival as that and the night at the Capricorn was cheaper than KIA but I did entertain KIA initially due to the close proximity to the airport. After the trip I am doing the Arusha day with the Adventure Company and then a weeks safari which I have booked independently so as to fly out on the 8th September.
Like the picture.
Not long to go now.
Best wishes
David
Looks like your doing it right David with the Safari tagged on :-)
Cheers for the comment on the profile pic, that was another great trip to Nepal in Oct 2010.
What currency are you taking ? I read we should take US $ and get some Tanzanian Shillings but we was told that for Nepal and there was no need as the UK £ was taken everywhere. Anyone else who has done this trip , advice would be appreciated.
regards
James
Hi James,
Would love to do Nepal some time - always looks great on photos. I am taking US Dollars as I have been to Kenya several times and found they work best so am assuming Tanzania will be the same. You can get by on sterling a lot of the time but dollars is what they all take and really want. I have ordered lots of 1 dollar bills in my mix for tips etc. I may change some to shillings on arrival as it may make tipping cheaper for the carry your bad 2 foot brigade to give them lower value local notes. However tanzanian shillings are a closed currency so you cannot buy before you go and you cannot take them out of the country either so I may just give them a miss.
Not long now see you in Amsterdam or in country.
Best wishes
David
Cheers David may change to us then. Like you say not long now so maybe see you in Amsterdam if you can recognise us both from the profile pic.
Regards
James
