I am in a similar position to you and am interested in doing the Inca Trail (probably as a single traveller as no friends can afford it or are interested) so would be keen to hear advice from other people.

I haven't booked anything yet but am keen to visit Peru and do the Inca Trail. Most likely to be later in 2010 or 2011 I think. I need to do some research yet.
