I'm leaving on the 24th to Nepal for the Gokyo lakes to EBC. I think we'll all be on the same plane. Not long now :)
Hi
just booked onto this trip last night and really looking forward to it. Should be great although trying to figure out what to take could be tricky! Anyone know what the weight limit is? I've seen a lot of other websites that say 15 kg. Also has anyone used a therma-rest mattress before? They are recommend on some blogs and look very light and small but necessary?
Hi I have a thermarest. Great for camping, but wouldn't bother taking it for the tea-houses, they will have mattresses. Save the space/weight in your bag.

Great! There are a few on Facebook too who are booked in on this one.

I'm wondering if I need to buy a solar charger for my camera battery or just pay to charge as we stay in the lodges?

Also, do you think it's worth buying trekking poles, fleece liners etc when we arrive? I'm getting my down jacket and sleeping bag in Norway where I know it will be good quality and keep me warm high up :-)

It's amazing how much stuff you need for this trip :-) I need a good headtorch but as I don't really tend to use one often I'd like a cheap one.....I think they would do pretty decent trekking poles out there, either in Katm or Namche. Not sure whether to get the expandable ones which are easier to travel with but do break more easily if they're not expensive.....
What about Visa - are you doing that at the airport or embassy? I might try the embassy....

I think 15 kg is max. They say the domestic airlines only take that onboard. So try to keep the main duffel bag to 10-15kg and your daypack can take some weight when you travel. I've bought an 18L one but they say it can be a lot bigger.
It's certainly a challenge to pack for this trip - so much stuff that I just don't have at home :-)
I am not sure we need to bring mattresses as we'll be staying in lodges with beds.

Yeah I've seen a few people on Facebook. My camera runs on disposable batteries unfortunately (I'm hoping I can take enough with me). A solar charger is probably more trouble than it's worth I'm not sure how good they are. I'm not sure whether to buy trekking poles I might buy them over there. I went shopping on the weekend but I still have loads of stuff to get will definitely be getting my sleeping bag and down jacket here though want to make sure those are good quality.

I know so much stuff to buy and there's so much choice as well. I just bought a cheap headtorch, trekking poles I think you need good ones. I visit London a lot so I might try to get a visa in the Embassy next time I'm there I've heard it's pretty easy to do at the airport though.

Hi all,

Can't believe it's only 13 days away now! I'm very excited. I think I make that 12 people in total on our trip now can't wait to meet you all.

See you soon - Alex.
