Hi

I loved Nepal last year and have just got back from Peru (flight of the Condor trip) - for both I chose a sightseeing rather than trecking trip, I met great people on both trips. Both countries have wonderful sights to see and free time to visit extra places or just chill and do nothing.

Go for it

I've just come back from the Serengeti - my first time on my own and I loved it! Trawling the website for my next one now. But I do understand your concern about who is on the trip - that was my only concern about the whole thing. But everyone was really friendly and you find yourself talking to everyone and anyone, whether they be on the trip or just sat at the airport! Doing an activity where you all stay together really helps as you very quickly develop the banter between the group.

Agree with the comment re finding out the trip profile. I am looking to go to Sri Lanka August 2011 and I know a group of 7 is on it and a group of 2, all of them around my age. So now I am stuck - do I go as the only solo traveller at the moment?! Or wait until new brochure is out in September and see when the solo holidays are - all too hard!

be brave little ones!
once you've done your first trip, you'll look back and laugh.
i'm shy, but chucking myself in at the deep end, was the best way to meet similar people.
my first trip was in 2004, and i have no regrets, just great memories, and a new friend or two.

Hi Sarah

I'm booked on Peaks of the Atlas, departing 11th July. I've done the same trip before, 4 years ago, and loved it. I'm travelling on my own too - it's usually a safe bet on these trips that you'll end up meeting loads of great people, so don't worry too much. My tip is to check when you book how many others (especially singles) have already booked the same trip.

Hi Sarah
I;m in the same boat - I;ve booked in for the Gorrilla safari departing on Sep 11th - its something that I just really really want to do, None of my friends are interested in doing it, & most people think I am mad.......but regardless I am going. Like you, I am a little apprehensive about going alone but agree with what others have said here - anyone who books these trips will be going for the same reason as you, so that has to be a starting ground for getting along. As they say, we are here for a good time and not for a long time, so grip life by the horns & just book the trip that you want to do

James, i would recommend the Turkey activity week - just come back and it was aamzing. Did sea kayaking, mountain biking and scuba diving, also had time to relax on the beach - it was an awesome week.
