Atlas Trek 6-20 Sept
Hi there
I'm doing the Peaks of the Atlas trip departing 6th Sept 2009 - would be nice to hear from anyone else going! Especially if, like me, you're doing it solo.
Julie

Hi Julie,
There are a couple of us also travelling solo (see post from 2 July). It's nice to know I won't be the only one!!! I've just looked on the Facebook page for TAC and it looks like there could be others out there.....
Take care,
Lou
Hi Julie,
I've done quite a bit of walking/trekking too and I'm really looking forward to getting away again. How's your preparation going? Have you got everything sorted?
Lou 8-[
Hi,
I'm not that organised, but I did have a 'practice pack' at the weekend. Mostly to help me decide what size bag I would need and whether I need to get anything. With all the Summer Sales I'm finding it hard not to buy things 'just in case' that I'll probably leave behind in the end ;-)
Don't worry too much about the altitude, it can affect anyone at any time no matter how fit the person is. If you really are concerned though, I'm told that your doctor can prescribe something called Diamox which can help (depending on which articles you read). I've been trying to get some training in too but work keeps getting in the way, so the space at the back of the group will probably be mine!!
I'm on Facebook along with a couple of the others if you want to get in touch, hope you have fun with your warm up in Scotland / Lakes,
take care,
Lou
Hi Julie
I'm going on this trip solo too! I'm really looking forward to it and be great to hear from others booked on the trip.

Hi
At last contact with people going on the trip. Looking afford to meeting you all at Heathrow. Trying to pack at the mo, done the fatal mistake of visiting Cotswold Outdoors and buying far too much. Now packing standing on scales and unpacking.

Well see you all in the afternoon 8-[

Great! Also glad there'll be a few of us. Should be a great trip. Have you done anything like it before? I've done a lot of hill walking but this is my first long trek.

I'm not fantastically organised yet...
But I think I have most of the kit already, maybe just need to buy a couple of things. Will have a sort out this weekend I think. I'm trying not to go on too many gear shopping trips, to avoid the temptation to buy other new stuff I don't really need!
I'm trying to go to the gym lots before we go, and am planning a trip to Scotland or the Lakes at the end of August as a kind of 'warm up'. I've never really walked at altitude before, so I thought I'd better try and be as fit as possible to reduce the chance of being the one crawling along puffing and panting at the back for the whole trip!
Not quite sure how the cupcake I'm currently eating for my breakfast fits in with the whole health and fitness drive, mind you... :-)
How about you? Are you super-organised already?

Hi Andy
my documents arrived today as well - very excited now! Looking forward to meeting you and Emma on the trip
x
I've already posted in a thread on facebook but Emma and myself are going on this trip. Don't worry about travelling solo and we're quite happy to get to know everyone on the trip and have a great time.
Our travel docs arrived in the post today so that makes us realise it's only round the corner now
