Hi Mike,
I just completed my booking last week.
Surinder (or Surry) from sunny Birmingham !
Hi Surry
Glad so see someone else on here is going! Just got back from the doc's looking like a pincushion! You getting all the suggested jabs?
Mike
Hi Mike,
Sorry for the late reply.
Unfortunatly you get a notification to your email address if someone has posted to the forum.
Oh dear..hope its not too painful. I havent had any jabs yet. Im going to my GP on Monday to figure out which ones ive already had in the past and which new ones I need.
Are you doing any spacific training for the trip?. Im taking the ' i hope ill get fitter as i go along' approach :-)
Surry
Hi Surry
Just realised I missed your earlier post! Re Training, I'm just doing a bit more walking than usual, most days then a couple of times a week go up and down local sandunes - Really works your legs! Oh and practising not tripping over when using my poles.
Should be up to Heathrow T4 by 4.30 on Friday- see you then.
Regards
Mike
Mike,
Great stuff. I know what you mean about the poles. !
By the way i've only just heard about Chorine Dioxide tablets for water purification. They are supposed to be much more effective + dont leave any after taste.
Will be picking some up on Monday from Cotwolds
Surry
hi Surry
Have a look at the chlorine dioxide drops too. Bit more of a fiddle as you have to mix them before use but 2 bottles will treat much more water (120 litres) than the tablets . Then again, tablets can't leak!
I'm using a camelback and even after using it for 4 months the water still tastes of plastic. I've also been trying out some "1000 mile" walking socks which are really good- no blisters at all.
Regards
Mike
Hi Surry & Mike,
I'm with you both on 21st. Look forward to meeting you. Just about all ready to go and looking forward to it.
Paul.
Hi Paul,
Great to see you on the forum. Look forward to meeting you on 21st.
I think we will all stick out at the check in desk...so will hopefully meet on the flight over
Surry
Hi Paul
Looking forward to meeting up- I'm travelling with my Brother-in-law Tim, so 4 of us so far.
Mike
Hi Surry/Mike,
Are you both on Adventure Company flights from Heathrow to Delhi? I'm travelling with a friend so at least 5 of us so far. Are you both pretty much ready? Just few minor things to sort for me.....not long now.
Paul.
Hi Paul,
Yup ill be flying out of Heathrow to New Delhi. (Im form Birmingham but figured it would be safer flying out with the group rather than the risk not meant gurop on the other end).
Im pretty much ready. Although not had a chance to fit in the exercise as ill be working up to the last min..
Couple of items to get from Cotswold outdoor and my 2 passport size photos for the visa on arrival....but other than that all done.
how about you ?
Surry
Hi,
I'm pretty much sorted, not as much exercise as I would have liked to have done but think I'll be OK. I'd take 4 passport photos as you'll need some for your trekking permit I think.
I'll be at Heathrow quite early as I'm coming in from Bergen via Oslo and meeting up with my friend when I get to London.
Paul.
Hi Guys
Yep Heathrow departure as well . I'm just doing some last minute sorting of kit and trying to decide between a heavy SLR camera or little pocket one. I should also be at Heathrow fairly early- I'll be the one carrying a rucksack ;))
Mike
Paul,
Thanks for the tip ref photos!. I'll make sure i bring one or two extra with me.
Surry
Hi Guys
Just a quick thanks for your company on the trip as we didn't get a chance to say goodbye, hope the solar prayer wheel is spinning merrily on the dash!
Mike
hi
If anyone (from our trip!) wants my set of photos send me an email with your address and I'll send them on disc. Regards Mike
