Annapurna Circuit trek

Welcome Guest, to make a post on the forum you need to login or register.

Annapurna Circuit Trek is the most popular trek in Nepal, it offers fairly easy days of walking through ever more exotic scenery. Annapurna region is home to ten different cultural groups in a wide range of agricultural and climatic regions. Its people have embraced tourism and its Tea Houses cater for the “western palate” over and above the tasty local fare. Spring and Autumn are the best seasons to trek, though Mountain Mart Trek-adventure team make it happen four seasons comfortably.

Nepal trekking, nowhere  is it possible to see all the Himalaya peaks together: first appears Annapurna II and IV with Pisang Peak to the north; Annapurna III and Gangapurna rise above Ngawal and Manang then Chulu East and West to the north and Annapurna I (8091m) to the south. On the downward route, near Kalapani, a point is reached where Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri are “above” and just 35km apart

Trekking in Annapurna circuit, route follows an anti-clockwise circle around the back of this 50km range before dropping back to Pokhara. The drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara is best described as ‘exhilarating’ and winds through sub-tropical scenery. Around Annapurna circuit trek, begins at 1100m and ascends some 300 – 500m a day to each overnight stop. The largest village is Manang (3540m) a Buddhist community in the rain shadow region behind the Annapurna Range.   The highest point is Thorung La (5416m) – the trail drops to a comfortable 3760m at Muktinath for the night. This is an important Buddhist and Hindu pilgrimage site overlooking the vast Kali Gandaki Valley. From there a road follows the gorge until you leave it at Tatopani (hot springs) and trek over the hills to Ghorepani and a sunrise view of the range from the south at Poon Hill. From there, the trail gradually drops to 990m at Pokhara: where you can relax at your lakeside hotel and enjoy the tranquil beauty of Phewa Lake.
