Oh, I forgot about the passport photos! I'm sure if I forgot I could have got them there.
I know it's probably a stupid question, but do we need to take ground mats for camping?
Juliecharlie; I think everyone here at the moment is for Octber 2012.
I remembered reading about camping mats somewhere...I just checked the FAQ's and it says that they are provided on the trek. I will be taking my own sleeping bag though, don't fancy hiring one! They also take about hiring / buying trekking poles out there, which I will probably do.....I only have one half of a pair as I somehow managed to snap one when I got stuck in a boulder in the lake district last year! And they are very useful especially on a steep descent!
Only 9 days to go now!
As well as doing the flight around Everest I'm also hoping to go tandem paragliding in Pokhara on day 5.
It's around £60, but depends on what flight you want to do. I have looked at http://www.sunrise-paragliding.com
Looking forward to meeting everyone next week :)
Friday next week!!!
Is everyone planning on meeting at Heathrow Airport or just see what happens?
Hi, just to let you know that I was in contact with a few people who went on this trip last year (I'm going on the trip in November). They said there is no photo booth at the airport so you need to take passport photos with you (or face a big delay getting the visa sorted). Apparently we also need passport photos for trek passes. I wasn't aware of this.
Other tips they mentioned:
Make sure you keep some clean clothes for the day you get back to the hotel after the trek (to wear after your first shower in 6/7 days!). There's lots of places near the hotel in Pokhara to get your washing done, and they'll have it ready in a few hours.
A water bottle is better than a platypus as easier to keep clean on trek. The porters fill them up for you in the morning and lunchtime with sterilized water.
Be prepared for some pretty bumpy roads and long journeys. The drive into the trekking area was particularly bad. If you get travel sick, consider taking anti-nausea pills.
Need Deet (insect repellent) for Chitwan.
Girls (and maybe boys!), take dry shampoo as oppose to waterless wet shampoo for trek so you don't end up with a wet, cold head.
They all said the trip was fantastic:)
Have a great time!
Thanks for the info redsheep :)
I have a place held for me to do an acrobatic tandem flight paragliding in Pokhara with frontier paragliding now :) really excited for that!
As for meeting in Heathrow, if you go on the adventure company's facebook page I have written on it several times saying I'm going to Nepal, if you add me at least we may recognise each other :)
Excellent info Redsheep....hopefully we will bring back a few tips for you!
I think this time next week I will be so excited I might burst!
I am sure we will be able to hatch a plan for anyone who wants to meet up at Heathrow...would rather meet up with you guys for a pre flight beer than spend all my money in duty free!
Hi All,
Thanks for the info - very useful.
Getting all very exciting now. Happy to meet for a beer at Heathrow if anyone else does.
Trevor
Here is a list of restaurants & bars... You can choose the terminal and where.. after security in terminal 4? :)

Ok,
After security, terminal 4 I'll make my way to 'Bridge Bar and Eating House'.
It's probably quite early but I'm going to plan on getting to the airport no later that 5pm.
If anyone wants to get in touch on the day my e-mail address is Pedaro@hotmail.co.uk.
Hope everyone's ready and no one forgets their passport!
I was planning on getting there at 5pm as well.
I'll see if I can see you at 'Bridge Bar and Eating House'
All being well with my train and tube I should be at Heathrow around 5 too!
See you in the bar!
Four sleeps to go!
Will see you in Bar for a beer!
Ok, I just had to swallow my heart back in to place when my passport wasn't where it should be!
Glad to say I found it within moments lol
See you tomorrow everyone!
Excited!!! :D
Have an amazing time everyone! Look forward to hearing about it :)
