Adventure Nepal 26th Feb

Welcome Guest, to make a post on the forum you need to login or register.

Hello all,

Thought i would post to say hi to any fellow Adventure Nepal holiday makers! Myself and Nick are really excited about the trip (and a tiny bit nervous as this is our first ever trekking holiday!) Any tips or hints from people that have been on this trip would also be gratefully recieved :-)

Hello All,

I'm on this trip too. Just a few days to go.

I'm travelling on my own too Jason, and as a bloke it might mean we end up sharing hotel rooms. I'm going to hire the sleeping bag out there.

Looking forward to it and will see you all soon.

Lou/Nick - you will love this trip, we did it over Christmas and it was a dream holiday. Dont worry about the trekking as you are well looked after and the first few days get you prepared for a few harder days nearer the end! as long as you have done plenty of walking over here and you know that your boots are good thats all you need to worry about. The days were generally warm and the only really cold night was at the highest point - but its worth it for the early morning view of the sunrise on the mountains. They provide wetsuites for the rafting (we didnt know that) so you will be warm enough. We didnt have any rain during the day on our trip. Buy some of the local rum to add your hot chocolate at the tea break in the afternoon. The locals come and sell bottles of beer at the evening stops. Take some playing cards for the evening, we had some great laughs. There are plenty of places in the main towns to exchange money (dollars, pounds or travellers cheques). They boil all the water on trek and you can fill your camel packs with this.

Cantt think of any other tips but if you have any queries just ask - enjoy!! youll love it.

Ah thanks for the reply Nigel, its great to hear from someone who has been on the trip and the advice is all gratefully received. Did you buy alot of specialised clothing for the trip? if so can you recommend any site/shop? we are looking to buy pretty much everything they suggest on the packing list but im in two minds as to whether its over exaggerated or if infact we are going to need thermal underwear in March :-) Whilst i don't want to be under prepared in anyway, id rather not spent hundreds unnecassarily. We are definately going for good boots like you mention but can i ask what kind of sleeping bag you took? they recommend 3/4 season bags, i have two standard sleeping bags at home, do you think they would be adequate? hope i haven't overloaded you with questions here, I really appreciate your help thank you

hi my name is jason, and i'm on this trip to, its my first time treking aswell.
iv'e spoken to other people who have been on these trips and they tell me alot of the stuff you need is avalible in katmandu ,and it costs a lot less than it would in britain.my only problem is have been wearing in my boots so much they are nearly worn out ,iv'e been told a walking pole comes in handy, they cost less than £10 over there but are about £40 here, from the reveiws iv'e read it sounds like the people are very helpfull and hopefully will help out with advise with anything we are missing before heading off trecking.
