Tatra Teenage Mountains

Rafting/cycling day, - although both activities were rather short/unchallenging.

[Least enjoyed] Rather a lot of unplanned waiting. - arrival day in Prague, - was worried about sightseeing as we were due to have our "official tour of Prague" the following day so didn't want to do the same thing twice.  Arrival day in Slovakia, -  arriving at 6am, but unable to access hotel rooms until 11am should not be something unusual, so therefore options  should be planned or available to fill this time. - not suggested that we spend a  morning of our precious holiday time sat in a common room with people we still have not had a chance to get to know. The suggestion for the afternoon of that day was also a bit of a non event - to take a train to the end of the line, have a walk round a lake and come back again  Leaving day from Slovakia - spending a whole day - and possibly evening in Aqua city, when the weather is cold, cloudy and overcast seemed once again stretching something that should have been a 3-4 hour trip.

Finally arriving on the overnight train to Prague but arriving too early to do anything in Prague with luggage in tow, so catching the bus to the Airport, and then having to wait for a further 4.5hours before our planed departed, whilst the lady on the BA desk would not consider moving us to an earlier flight, even though there were spaces.  Sorry this sounds negative, but was expecting an active holiday, and was therefore surprised that we had a great deal of waiting around and missed opportunities

I work in a medium sized 4* tourist hotel, and whilst the food and staff in Prague and Slovakia were not necessarily 4*, it was very good, and the rooms in each hotel were very good.

This marking is given for our Group Leader in Slovakia not Prague.  He was a pleasant but initially slightly serious young man, who on occasions treated us all like children with his caution to maintain his health and safety standards, forgetting that we were quite capable of making decisions oursleves.

Croatian River Adventure - Family Holiday

The variety of activities.  The excellent local guide and his commitment to our group.  Doing activities that were challenging -but we were able to achieve them.

[Least enjoyed] The last day of activities - when we were canoeing on the Cetina river back to the hotel.  This was perfectly pleasant but as we had built up our experience by then we would have preferred to do something more challenging such as kayaking in white water or mini-rafting (which another group staying at the same hotel did)

Apart from that the itinerary was fabulous - and we really enjoyed our optional day out in Split.  We had one day of bicycling.  I am not an expert but the bicycles were not very well maintained and 10 minutes per bike before we started would have made for an easier day.

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful.   I would have liked a little more variety in the food offered - and in particular more fruit.   The hotel rooms were quite varied - we had lots of tables but no chairs - but it didn't really matter.   There was air conditioning in the rooms but ours did not work very well.

Demir was fabulous

Croatian River Adventure - Family Holiday

our guide Damir, was excellent. The pace was good for kids, lots of breaks to swim so the actual exercise/activity wasn't too difficult or tiring for the younger kids

[Least enjoyed] The coach travel to get to the locations - would have liked shorter journeys.  The hotel was quite basic, our bathroom was awful, the shower curtain didn't fit so the water went everywhere so had to use all the towels to mop up the water as bathroom flooded. I did ask for it to be fixed but it wasn't.  Also asked for extra towels so that we had towels for us rather than the floor, but didn't get any.  The staff were all lovely and helpful though, but the bathroom was just particularly awful!

One day less paddling (eg canoeing or kayaking) would be better. 3 days was a bit too much.

[Accommodation] see previous comments. The website said there was a pool table which would have kept the children occupied and out of the way of the other guests, but the hotel said that they took it away as it wasn't used.

He was very patient with the children, even when they were very annoying!!  Very helpful, knowledgeable, calm.  A really lovely guy.

Safari & Beach Adventure

The different safaris - seeing lots of elephants, giraffes and zebras and the fantastic view from our lodge.

[Least enjoyed] Long wait at Nairobi waiting for our onward flight on the way home.

Quiet and small hotels were good. Sable mountain lodge absolutely outstanding in every way - location and view, food, guides and staff in general.

Although Rama was quiet he was efficient and sorted out any problems we had.

Safari & Beach Adventure

Train ride. Safari. Staying in Selous - food and staff were superb. Bagamoyo, walking round the town ourselves and beautiful beach. Excellent service at Flame Tree Cottages. Spice Tour

[Least enjoyed] Dhow Palace Hotel. Dhow Palace was disappointing in comparison to level of other places.  Flame Tree Cottages was excellent and we were glad not to be staying in the accomodation the rest of our group were allocated, the position was much better and the accomodation far more luxurious

Haasan was exemplary in all respects, friendly, an excellent and knowledgeable teacher and really looked after us with great attention to detail. Including providing stones to wedge the windows open on the train trip!

Longleat Family African Safari

Tent with a view - fantastic setting and excellent staff David and his knowledge and love of the elephants

Sadly missed turtle hatching even though they were hatching whilst we were at the lodge but only found out afterwards!

[Accommodation] Tent with aview was beautiful. Other hotels were great but not as stunning as tent with a view. 5* tent with a view 4* Other hotels

It was really interesting to accompany the medics to a local clinic from tent with a view, especially as my daughter is hoping to do medicine in the future. It gave her and us a real insight into the issues the local community had.

We only had a group leader for the two days at Tent with a view for the elephants but he was great and really involved the children in all the activities getting them to participate in the monitoring and tracking of the elephants etc.

Land of the Lemurs - Family Holiday

Everything about Madagascar, people, landscape, diversity of flora and fauna, bird watching, whale watching, walks in Isalo, rainforest , beach

[Least enjoyed] Travelling long and flight delays made for long , uncomfortable waits in the airports

Obviously being the first time the trip was done there were a few teething problems and inaccuracies but this is to be expected and the fantastic local guide coped admirably well. The only  Changes to be made are the age limit, 7 is definitely too young  and the group size should not have exceeded 14, 18 was too many and made travelling uncomfortable and journey stops too long, resulting in long days and late arrivals to destinations.

All the accommodation was good and most was excellent, only the one night in antisirabe was a bit Disappointing in comparison to the rest

Michael Zafinimbiny was outstanding. We felt completely safe in his hands and confident in his abilities. He worked so hard to make the holiday a success. He was friendly, knowledgable, discreet, kind, considerate and compassionate. He was proud of his country and showed us all sides of it. He was very astute about dealing with any potential problems and worked tirelessly to make our holiday special. He definitely deserves to go far as he was more than capable of running and adjusting our itinerary .

Elephant Paradise - Family Holiday

We enjoyed seeing so much of the country and our guide was so knowledgable that we feel to have gained a very good understanding of the country. The itinerary was excellent and the coach so comfortable that travelling was an enjoyable experience. The accommodation was generally better than we expected and we especially loved the resthouse at Kitulgala and also the night under canvas!

[Least enjoyed] We found the hotel food rather predictable and we tried to eat out locally, but this was not always possible.

Our guide, Rohan was a major factor in our enjoyment of the holiday. We feel very lucky.
