Croatian River Adventure - Family Holiday

our guide Damir, was excellent. The pace was good for kids, lots of breaks to swim so the actual exercise/activity wasn't too difficult or tiring for the younger kids

[Least enjoyed] The coach travel to get to the locations - would have liked shorter journeys.  The hotel was quite basic, our bathroom was awful, the shower curtain didn't fit so the water went everywhere so had to use all the towels to mop up the water as bathroom flooded. I did ask for it to be fixed but it wasn't.  Also asked for extra towels so that we had towels for us rather than the floor, but didn't get any.  The staff were all lovely and helpful though, but the bathroom was just particularly awful!

One day less paddling (eg canoeing or kayaking) would be better. 3 days was a bit too much.

[Accommodation] see previous comments. The website said there was a pool table which would have kept the children occupied and out of the way of the other guests, but the hotel said that they took it away as it wasn't used.

He was very patient with the children, even when they were very annoying!!  Very helpful, knowledgeable, calm.  A really lovely guy.

Safari & Beach Adventure

The different safaris - seeing lots of elephants, giraffes and zebras and the fantastic view from our lodge.

[Least enjoyed] Long wait at Nairobi waiting for our onward flight on the way home.

Quiet and small hotels were good. Sable mountain lodge absolutely outstanding in every way - location and view, food, guides and staff in general.

Although Rama was quiet he was efficient and sorted out any problems we had.

Safari & Beach Adventure

Train ride. Safari. Staying in Selous - food and staff were superb. Bagamoyo, walking round the town ourselves and beautiful beach. Excellent service at Flame Tree Cottages. Spice Tour

[Least enjoyed] Dhow Palace Hotel. Dhow Palace was disappointing in comparison to level of other places.  Flame Tree Cottages was excellent and we were glad not to be staying in the accomodation the rest of our group were allocated, the position was much better and the accomodation far more luxurious

Haasan was exemplary in all respects, friendly, an excellent and knowledgeable teacher and really looked after us with great attention to detail. Including providing stones to wedge the windows open on the train trip!

Longleat Family African Safari

Tent with a view - fantastic setting and excellent staff David and his knowledge and love of the elephants

Sadly missed turtle hatching even though they were hatching whilst we were at the lodge but only found out afterwards!

[Accommodation] Tent with aview was beautiful. Other hotels were great but not as stunning as tent with a view. 5* tent with a view 4* Other hotels

It was really interesting to accompany the medics to a local clinic from tent with a view, especially as my daughter is hoping to do medicine in the future. It gave her and us a real insight into the issues the local community had.

We only had a group leader for the two days at Tent with a view for the elephants but he was great and really involved the children in all the activities getting them to participate in the monitoring and tracking of the elephants etc.

Land of the Lemurs - Family Holiday

Everything about Madagascar, people, landscape, diversity of flora and fauna, bird watching, whale watching, walks in Isalo, rainforest , beach

[Least enjoyed] Travelling long and flight delays made for long , uncomfortable waits in the airports

Obviously being the first time the trip was done there were a few teething problems and inaccuracies but this is to be expected and the fantastic local guide coped admirably well. The only  Changes to be made are the age limit, 7 is definitely too young  and the group size should not have exceeded 14, 18 was too many and made travelling uncomfortable and journey stops too long, resulting in long days and late arrivals to destinations.

All the accommodation was good and most was excellent, only the one night in antisirabe was a bit Disappointing in comparison to the rest

Michael Zafinimbiny was outstanding. We felt completely safe in his hands and confident in his abilities. He worked so hard to make the holiday a success. He was friendly, knowledgable, discreet, kind, considerate and compassionate. He was proud of his country and showed us all sides of it. He was very astute about dealing with any potential problems and worked tirelessly to make our holiday special. He definitely deserves to go far as he was more than capable of running and adjusting our itinerary .

Elephant Paradise - Family Holiday

We enjoyed seeing so much of the country and our guide was so knowledgable that we feel to have gained a very good understanding of the country. The itinerary was excellent and the coach so comfortable that travelling was an enjoyable experience. The accommodation was generally better than we expected and we especially loved the resthouse at Kitulgala and also the night under canvas!

[Least enjoyed] We found the hotel food rather predictable and we tried to eat out locally, but this was not always possible.

Our guide, Rohan was a major factor in our enjoyment of the holiday. We feel very lucky.

Croatian Coastal Adventure - Family Holiday

Making new friends, and seeing my child enjoying herself.

Being knocked off my bike by the tour guide, and sustaining injury to hand which prevented me from fully participating in the activities for the rest of the week.

Lovely swimming pool at hotel, if a little salty due to evaporation of water.

Needs to learn how to apply brakes when cycling downhill, as she went straight into the back of my bicycle, causing injury to myself and her.

Atlas Trails

The group leader, Hussain was absolutely excellent and gave us a real insite into the country including added extras like tea in a local house and teaching us how to cook a tagine.  he was delightful, great fun and a great role model for our children.  Nothing was too much trouble.  The trek in the mountains was also a highlight.

[Least enjoyed] One of the gites was dissappointing in comparison to the other 2. The flights were tedious because of having to change at Cassablanca.

2 of us lost our luggage for one night and we believe it was because of the short stopover at Cassablanca.  The stopover also made for a long journey home.  We would have much preferred a direct flight.

[Accommodation] The pillows were often very uncomfortable and I wish I had taken my own.

As already stated Hussain was excellent, always working had to make sure our trek was as successful as it possibly could be.  He sorted out our luggage problem, and our health issues with skill, sensitivity and good humour.  He is a real asset to your company.

Marvels of Morocco - Family holiday

Camping in the Sahara, trekking in Atlas mountains
[Least enjoyed] Monotonous food in Morocco
[Itinerary] Marvels of Morocco trip - was not completely accurate re type of accommodation provided - happily to our benefit. Temperature guide for August was not accurate (it was a good 10 degrees hotter than the trip notes suggest) and the suggestions about how to dress so as not to offend locals seem more conservative than required, given how most tourists dress. Most importantly, there was no need whatsoever for sleeping bags at any point. We had considered taking our own - which would have meant dragging unnecessary luggage around for two weeks - but decided to rent locally just before we went and arranged that with you - but when we got there, the local company provided only five (for another family) so if we had needed them, that would have been a problem. The company tried to insist that they were paid for by this family, even though there was no way that they were needed so I suggest that you might want to look at that whole issue.
[Accommodation] description of accommodation in borchure was not accurate - there were more hotels with pools than described and there was no requirement to share facilities. Gite accommodation in the Atlas was not basic as described in the brochure - so exceeded expectations.

Khaled was an excellent leader - knowledgeable and helpful - built up good relationships and engaged very well with the young people on the trip, which was very helpful for the adults. He gave up his free time willingly to organise activities which we wanted to do that were not part of the itinerary so I have ignored these in the next question as they were not "official" additional options detailed in the itinerary.

Spirit of the Incas

Reed Islands on Lake Titicaca, rafting (optional) and Machu Picchu

[Least enjoyed] Time spent in airports

Compared with previous trips we have taken with you this one felt like it had little substance and optionals really did need to be added.

[Accommodation] Unlike previous trips our 3 bed rooms really did have 3 full size beds in an appropriately sized room which was nice. The hotel in Lima had a carrier bag tied around the shower head. The beds in Puno hotel were extremely hard - and compounded with sleeping at altitude made for very broken and uncomfortable nights sleep. Breakfast throughout the main trip was poor compared with our previous trips. Certainly in the Cusco hotel there was very little on offer, with the rolls running out very early - with scrambled eggs having to be asked for as the dish was always empty and then receiving a spoonful each, which was not really sufficient for a busy morning. We did ask for a boiled egg one morning as my husband had been ill and we were told that was not possible. The lodge used on the amazon extension was superb and certainly understated in the brochure - the food here was very good.

We did have a few: first day in Lima only met and taken to hotel, some guidance given on what we could possibly do during the day which was for us adequate but I can imagine for others may have been daunting. We chose to do an open top bus tour for 3 hours and used our guide books to find a good restaurant etc - the location of the hotel was perfect for this - I would suggest having more of a "package" of info for that day - so where to go for tickets for a bus tour, how long the tours are, little map of the area with supermarket for water, where money could be changed etc. I understand why this is not included in the itinerary as international flights from hearing the experience of others are often delayed and that day is lost.
