Journey to the Lost City - Family Holiday

Wadi Rum camp camel ride to see sunrise-truly magical, Petra-awe inspiring

Aqaba-advertised as beach/snorkelling, bit of a nothing destination. Snorkelling was ok but boat very slow, wasted 90 mins in transit

Should have been told that church at mt Nebo was closed for reconstruction

As a married couple I expected double beds not twins
International class hotels should serve alcohol

A lovely guy, knowledgable, helpful, funny and interesting

Desert & Reef Adventure

This was such a good trip.  We loved all of it and the boys had a ball - highlights include the opportunity to learn something more about photography with Graeme Fordham and the underwater photographer JP - they really made our trip special as did our very lovely and patient guide Muhammad who really looked after us.  Other highlights for all of us include our trip into the desert and sleeping in the Bedouin tent, galloping along the beach, the camel riding and the diving!! The hotel was lovely - all in all a very well organised, friendly and stimulating trip, thank you

I think a teenage departure or adult departure would also be a very good idea with a photographer - I would like, as an adult to get the opportunity to learn more about underwater photography!

[Accommodation] It was in a perfect location with views of the sea and lovely helpful people - there were some issues with the showers, but overall a lovely place

It was a tricky trip - four young boys and two bolshy mothers but he managed beautifully - he is an excellent guide

Wonders of the Nile

The whole trip exceeded expectations, however our amazing guide Medou made the trip.  He arranged everything so smoothly, took great care of us and had a wonderful sense of humour. His knowledge and passion for his country were really inspirational.

One small thing though, we thought the hotel in Aswan wasn't very clean, particularly the bathrooms.  Other than that the accommodation was very satisfactory.

We least enjoyed the two nights in Hurghada and staying at the huge resort hotel. While it was lovely to see the Red Sea, and we understand the logistical reasons for staying in Hurghada, we felt it was hidously touristy and would have preferred staying somewhere more authentically Egyptian and quieter on the Red Sea; El Quesir or Marsa Alam, and flying back to Cairo from there.

Apart from Hurghada we felt the itinerary was paced just right to get a real flavour of Egypt.

As previously, Aswan Hotel not the cleanest and while the Hurghada was not to our taste at all, it was clean and very functional

He was fantastic in every aspect.  It was very sad to say Goodbye, my 7yr old cried at the thought of not seeing Medou again.

Wonders of the Nile

We had a local guide, Medo Salam, and we could not heap enough praises on him. He was brilliant and made the holiday truely unforgettable, for all the right reasons.

We enjoyed all of it equally, but the Valley of the Kings, is un-missable.

He was brilliant.

Glaciers and Geysers

Highlights included the nature beauty of Iceland and the geographical features of the country. Snowmobiling on the glacier was treamendous as was caving through the lava tubes.

The organisation was terrible! On arriving in Iceland we were met by a taxi (not our guide) and taken to a hotel which was not aware of my booking and asked for a hotel voucher which I had not been given. After 25 minutes, we were given a sub standard room with mould in the bedroom and bathroom. We were able to change rooms 3 days later! We were not told when or where to meet our guide (neither were the other family on the trip)so I had to ring 3 different 24 hour- emergency lines to find someone to help. We were not given any timings for the days in advance resulting in some days ending at 3pm and others not starting until 12 noon resulting in lots of unexpected 'down time' in a country with masses to do. Had we known the plans in advance we could have booked our own activites around this. On the last night we had to change hotels to a spa type hotel due to 'overbooking', which we were informed of before flying but on the day this too was 'overbooked' and we ended up in a business hotel on the industrial area of town with nothing to do and more wasted time on our last day.

The Northern Night tour should be moved to the first night of the trip as if you don't see the Lights, the tour offers repeat trips on the next nights until you do see them, so moving to the start of the week will give maximum chances. Also, our trip returned at 2AM when we had a 8.30am start which was very tiring for my son.

Winter Activity Week

Excellent hosts, friendly welcoming hotel, exciting activities.

We spent alot more than we were expecting because the itinary was changed as facilities were not available such as cross country skiing.

I think this trip should be changed to reflect the fact that it is mainly a ski holiday, the other activities were quite short so we soent the majority of the week skiiing, which we chose to do but it meant we paid I think more in the long run than if we'd just booked a straightforward ski holiday.

Far exceeded expectations, very good hosts, did everything they could to make our trip great.

Glaciers and Geysers

New years' eve in Reyjavik was amazing. It should be put as a highlight on this trip for this particular time of year. The fireworks, local friendly people, even snow made the whole evening spectacular!

New Years day was disappointing as there were no planned activities and the whole city was closed.  We were wandering around a bit lost and all crammed into one restaurant that was open.  It would have been better if something had been organised - even something simple like a walking tour of the city would have been good.

There was a lot of travelling around but I guess that is inevitable in this kind of trip.  More 'activities' for the children rather than just sight seeing might have been better, but having said that they enjoyed playing in the snow.

The location was excellent and the rooms clean and sufficient. H owever, there was no communal space (except the lobby) in which the families could get together to play cards or whatever which was a shame. Also, we had to take all our luggage up to the rooms in the snow which, whilst not difficult, was hard for some of the party.

Oli was magnificent. What a lovely chap! He knew so much about the local area, had a great sense of humour and was a pleasure to be around.  Thank you so much for choosing him to be our team leader.

Monkeys in the Jungle

whitewater rafting, the temple at Kandy, the elephant safari.

Our guide told us that the trip dossier was written by the adventure company rep. It needs proof reading again for grammatical accuracy and also it was inaccurate about the itinerary. You need to revise the detail in conjunction with the local guides. You need to tell them we don't want to get up early unless there is a good reason. As a matter of policy you should let the local company's see the trip dossiers and your reps should do the trips in a minibus with a family not in a car by themselves as you get a misguided view of journey times and how children react to the activities.
The monkey research camp was a waste of time and the elephant transit camp was disappointing. It would have been nicer to go to the orphanage where the children could have contact with the elephants.

[Least enjoyed] Tipping. If we are expected to tip constantly then add it to the cost of the holiday and let the guide sort it.
Too many "posh lunches" we were taken to restaurants where full quite expensive lunch was served. We would have preferred to go local shops and buy snacks some of the time.
Getting up early.
Missing the dolphins - we appreciate this was weather dependent but it was still sad to miss them.

If any others on our trip complain about him [Thila] it is not justified, he was very good and coped well with demands of different people and people trying to challenge his authority.
