The Inca Trail - Teenage Adventure

Excellent local guide in the Amazon, poor local guides in other areas-were not able to tailor their knowledge or presentation to children so far too much detail and the kids were bored after a while, also English not always that good. Our overall tour leader was excellent. Flights on Iberia were not good-v cramped and no choice in in-flight entertainment, return flight with LAN was much better. Info from customer service not 100% accurate

[least enjoyed] Getting food poisoning in Puno-3 members of our family!

We designed our own itinerary but Jon was excellent with his advice and in managing to fit in everything

no hot water in hotel in Aguas calientes

very good-also helped us buy a Prom dress in Cusco!

Magic of Mexico - Family holiday

Uxmal - Swimming with turtles (which we arranged ourselves)

Would have been nice to have spent a little longer in Uxmal and Chichen Itza. The information about the free day in Merida contained in the trip dossier is wrong - there is no cycling available there - that is from Valladolid and no time to do it. Would have been useful to have had more information about trips/excursions available from Tulum

[accommodation] A little basic especially Valladolid and Uxmal (the room, not the public areas)

We had 2 different leaders so they didn't know what the other had done butv that was ok. The tour seemed a little bit off the cuff especially at the beginning - we turned up at a hotel in Chichen Itza, sat around for half an hour only to be told we weren't staying there after all, and were moved to a lesser hotel down the road (albeit very nice, not as beautiful); then told we couldn't do horseriding as planned the next day, it wasn't available, on checking with the hotel about their advertised horseriding, yes of course it was available, so we went back to the guide who consulted and eventually agreed yes we could go. However, not sure we really did what we should have done!

Tiger Trails & Taj Mahal - Family Holiday

Taj mahal and tiger safari.   The tour guide, Junaid, was fantastic throughout.

Too much moving around - need to have 2 nights per stop and take off the last 2 days in havellis.  Have written with suggested itinerary.

Having discussed the tour with a number of other parents, we think the itinerary was too ambitious for a family tour, and that there was too much (unnecessary) moving around.  We did not have enough time in Delhi to explore, and we left feeling we had really only scratched the surface of that wonderful city.  In addition, we felt there was too much travelling on the coach on the last 2 days of the tour which could have been avoided as, in our opinion, spending 2 days extra to see the Havelis was unwarranted.  Train back to Delhi form Jaipur.

Junaid ensured the group was always fully informed and (where appropriate) given choices, and he demonstrated significant knowledge on the history and culture of all the places we visited and Indian culture in general.  Jay was always available and encouraged questions and contact, and was incredibly good with all the children (as well as adults).  Most of the group were ill at some stage during the tour, and Jay ensured that they were as comfortable as possible and was able to give advice and provide medication.  He was particularly attentive with the children, including our little girl Rebecca, who was very ill over the last 2 days.  Jay is generally a very nice and professional man who saved the day on a number of occasions, and definitely helped make the holiday enjoyable for us.

Tiger Trails & Taj Mahal - Family Holiday

Our wonderful guide, Sher Singh and seeing a tiger up close. We also enjoyed the heritage accommodations.

[least enjoyed] the hotel in Delhi was noisy and we got soaked in a rainstorm on our second tiger safari as the driver would not allow us to wait in the visitors centre until the rain stopped - even though our guide asked him to do that.

The itinerary was excellent, just the right pace.

We enjoyed visiting the school.

Just wonderful and lovely. We would travel again on any trip Sher Singh was leading.

Mountains & Tigers - Family Holiday

there were so many - where do i start. I loved the Taj Mahal but maybe Fatepur sikri more? I loved the overnight train experience. The tiger sent shivers through all of us. Evening prayers at Haridwar was very moving. But, the visit to the school in the most beautiful landscape i have ever seen was tremendous. I kept waiting for the dull day - it never came.

Sheetal was truly amazing. I cannot recommend her enough. She made the trip totally stress free. She was patient with the children and upbeat every day. Her local knowledge was outstanding and her ability to take charge of every situation, with a smile, was very reassuring.

One of the highlights for me was the Mekong Delta homestay, the day was very full but great fun and really interesting - travelling in our own boat seeing the local crafts still practiced.  The accomadation was very simple but all you could want, while the evening meal was excellent the "Elephant fish" was delicious!
I also enjoyed the stay in Hoi An, it was good to have a bit of a break in the hectic schedule and have time off to cycle to the beach and do some shopping.  The trip to the orphanage was great fun.

There were no low points from Vietnam or Cambodia!

However I would like to feedback that we had our flights changed on return to the UK and had to stay over in Bangkok for the night - which was fine, but on arrival at the airport the person meeting us was not at the right exit.  We did find her eventually, but she had our name spelt wrong which did not help.  She then kept asking us for the address of the hotel that we were booked into.  Luckily we had the name from you (although she did not seem to know where it was), so it would be useful to have an address in future as well.  When we finally got to the hotel, they told us the rooms were not booked.  Luckily, they did have space and we were able to contact PEAK Thialand who confirmed that they would pay!

The trip itinerary worked well, it was good to start in Hanoi and move south as it meant we became a bit more used to the heat!

We went on the extension to Cambodia and it was great that we had pools with both the swimming pools (which wasn't mentioned in information)

The group leader that we had in Vietnam, Tuyen Vu, was exceptional - professional, friendly, and organised, he had first hand experience of living and working in the country which gave a personal dimension to any information.
The group leader for Cambodia was very knowledgeable and interesting.

Crossing the road in. Hanoi - strangely addictive! Visitng the local market and orphanage at Hue. Hoi An - cycling, the Beach, shopping and restaurants. Seeing the countryside and rural scenes around Hue and Hoi An. Interacting with the local people and seeing something of their way of life.. Our tour leader Tuyen who was fantastic.

Tuyen was an excellent tour leader. We have been on 3 previous family adventure holidays (with a different company) and Tuyen is definitely the best tour leader we have had. He is a credit to the Adventure Company.
His organisation was excellent. The information he provided about Vietnamese culture and way of life really enhanced our holiday experience. But most of all he is a lovely guy who worked extremely hard to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves and was looked after.
My husband needed a gluten free diet and Tuyen ensured this was provided throughout our trip giving us peace of mind.
All the kids loved him and he was the highlight of the trip for my 13 year old son (and probably for us all actually!)

Wonders of the Nile

Cairo museum, train, Nubian village, felluca

[Least enjoyed] Dreadful hotel in Aswan. No idea why you use it unless the rooms they showed you were completely different to the ones we stayed in. View amazing, but too far out of town, stuck there, train late so missed excusions. Building work until midnight right outside my window. No sheets on bed, aircon broken. Tour guide offered to swap rooms but my daughter was settled in bed and wanted to be next door to rest of family. also, you are far too ambitious with distance in felluca. We spent most of the time being towed by a motor boat to get to our destination. Would have far rather just only attempted shorter distance and sailed.

absolutely loved all the different modes of transport. Real highlight.

As before Aswan Hotel absolutely apalling. Rest fine, in fact very good and excellent. Felluca amazing. Oasis hotel Cairo excellent (but took SO long to get there) but very far away. Nile Valley in Luxor perfect location and quality. Sunny Days in Hurghada was interesting. Nice but food horrid and staff surley but the view made up for that.
Generally hotels should be more central so as not to waste time travelling

Medo was amazing.'He gave us the best holiday ever' quote Florence age 9. Felt totally comfortable and safe in his hands. Often provided extras we hadn't though of such as sea sickness pills, lunch!, chewing gum, ipod charger. He was such a lovely guy too, he couldn't do enough for us. Why isn't he doing all the trips? I have been to Egypt before with another adventure company using British guide which was no where near as effective.
