Arguably the Mediterranean’s best-kept secret, Northern Cyprus holidays offer a distinct contrast to the tourist hotspots associated with the south of the island. Walk along deserted forest and mountain tracks, used only by farmers, breathing in the sent of herbs and countless wild flowers – especially in the spring - and enjoy wonderful coastal panoramas - guaranteed to leave you breathless. North Cyprus has ruined crusader castles to explore (remnants of a previous type of adventure travel!), atmospheric monasteries to wander around and flower-bedecked villages with traditional coffee shops to stop and relax in. Further afield there’s also the chance to visit the walled cities of Nicosia or Famagusta and even Roman Salamis.
