Explore North Cyprus
Arguably the Mediterranean’s best-kept secret, Northern Cyprus holidays offer a distinct contrast to the tourist hotspots associated with the south of the island. Quiet and peaceful with a relatively undeveloped tourism industry, it’s a great destination for a ‘get away from it all’ break, making holidays to Northern Cyprus a great choice for travellers wanting a walking holiday in Europe.
A great base for discovering this region is the coastal town of Kyrenia – celebrated for its picturesque harbour and laid-back atmosphere, the surrounding walks vary from forest trails to coastal paths, giving a great chance to enjoy the spectacular diversity of the area. Walk along deserted forest and mountain tracks, used only by farmers, breathing in the sent of herbs and countless wild flowers – especially in the spring - and enjoy wonderful coastal panoramas - guaranteed to leave you breathless. North Cyprus has ruined crusader castles to explore (remnants of a previous type of adventure travel!), atmospheric monasteries to wander around and flower-bedecked villages with traditional coffee shops to stop and relax in. Further afield there’s also the chance to visit the walled cities of Nicosia or Famagusta and even Roman Salamis.
