With stunning landscapes, clear blue waters and warm weather, there few places in Europe as suited to summer activity holidays as Croatia. Leave the overcrowded tourist areas behind and discover it for yourself - a beautiful country practically designed for active adventure!
Travel inland and enjoy the leisurely peace and tranquillity of a canoe expedition down beautiful, slow moving rivers, stopping at swimming spots along the way – great for cooling off! Explore local villages by mountain bike – a far better way to experience the countryside than from inside a car! Then ramp the adrenaline up a notch with white water rafting down a fast flowing section of the river and perhaps go canyoning through the stunning 200m deep Cetina Gorge.
Alternatively opt for a sea kayaking holiday around the beautiful islands off the coast of Dubrovnik. Explore the islands by bike and on foot, and kayak to secluded coves great for swimming and relaxing.
For the most part, small locally owned hotels and village houses will be your base on your Croatia holidays and the key purpose of these trips is having a fun holiday! No previous experience is ever necessary; however as these are mainly water based activities an ability to swim is essential!

Croatia is a great destination for all types of active traveller; however it’s particularly good for the adventurous family who loves outdoor activity holidays. The fantastic summer climate, coupled with the range of activities available in a relatively small geographical area mean there is little travelling once in country and importantly, you very rarely get ‘rained off’! Family watersports holidays in Europe don’t come much better than those in unspoiled Croatia!
