Into the Okavango

One, coming from the UK, being in environment dominated by the animal kingdom truly turned my world upside down. We live in such a populated island, the only wildlife we see on a regular basis are birds – well the last few days certainly turned that on it’s head…everything had a place and purpose, the whole environment was the result of thousands of years evolution; perfectly symbiotic. The Okavango Delta is large enough for natural migration patterns which not many other places can provide nowadays.

Amazing Botswana

I was lucky enough to have just done part of the Delta to Victoria trip (trip code BS); spending two days in the Delta and two days in Moremi National Park and there are two over riding & life changing aspects I took out from the experience, which I'd like to share. Feluccas & Pharaohs

Wow Egypt, not bad I thought for my second trip abroad. I was going with my Mum, Rachel, Jack my cousin and David, so not perfect as David is a bit mad! I am Tom, aged 10 when we went in August 2007.

One of my favourite parts of the holiday was the felucca boat trip down the River Nile, mainly because all the kids were on one boat and the adults on another. We all got on really well and played cards, gambling for M&M sweets. Cool!

Saharan Sands

Leaving behind Ouarzazate, after our late evening arrival the day before, we drove over the barren landscape of the Tizi-n-Tiniffift pass into the Draa Valley and on to the small oasis town of Tazzarine. Our camp for the night in the old part of this small desert town was itself a lush oasis of date palms and pomegranate trees.
We had the place to ourselves and while we the adults relaxed with glasses of mint tea and got to know each other in the communal tent of the camp the children set about exploring and making friends with each other.

Land of the Dragon

We came back just as the final preparations were being done for the Olympics - Beijing had had quite a make over and the air quality was much improved over the period of our visit.

Finland 2008

Finland blog
I went to Finland last February with my boyfriend. Our flights to Finland were a bit chaotic but we made it in the end. We arrived at night so we couldn’t really see anything when we arrived but our guides met us at the airport and took us to the hotel, they were very friendly. Hotel Inarin Kultahovi is situated on the edge of a river which at this time of year is frozen over and is a very warm and welcoming place to stay. Apparently at this time the lake could hold the weight of a car but i wont be testing that theory!
