Tom, aged 13, family adventures
Tom is perhaps one of the luckiest 13 year olds we know - he just got back from Costa Rica and he has travelled with his parents, Cathy and Mark, all over the world. We asked Tom to share his memories and thoughts on travelling with us.
1. What do you think of adventure holidays?
They are really fun! You get to eat great food, do great activities and explore amazing places.
2. You’ve been going away on exciting holidays since you were little, what do you like most about travelling?
Just seeing all the amazing, wonderful places there are in the world.
3.What was your first great travel experience? Can you remember all the holidays you’ve been on?
Going on the overnight train ride in North India, and it was amazing. Even now I can remember the very first trip, seven years ago.
4. Do you like travelling with other families? Have you stayed in touch with any of the children you’ve met?
Yes! We still see a family I met in China 5 years ago.
5. What’s your favourite photo from all your adventures?
Any photo of Machu Picchu is sure to be a great one.
6. You have just got back from Costa Rica, what animals did you see and what activity did you enjoy the most? Did you see the volcano bubbling?
Some of the other children and I saw an armadillo near one of the hotels. There were also tucans, Jesus Christ lizards, iguanas, monkeys, crocodiles and turtles.
7. Out of all your trips, which is your favourite and why?
Without any doubt – Peru was the best! It was just amazing and I loved Machu Picchu. I also visited the Amazon.
8. When you’re an adult do you think you will keep travelling?
I think I will travel for my whole life.
9. If you had to convince your friends to go on one of our trips, what would you tell them?
I would say that you are experiencing things many aren’t lucky enough to, you have so much fun, zip wiring, white water rafting and simply visiting stunning places.
