Moroccan Experience

The  Moroccan Experience was my first introduction to Morocco, we had a guided tour around the souks the sounds and were amazing. Going to the Djemaa el-Fna was awesome as I had only ever seen it on TV, at night it really comes alive with snake charmers and lots of places to eat. We left Marrakech and headed for Ait Benhaddou which is probably the most exotic and best preserved Moroccan casbah, many films have been shot here ranging from Jesus of Nazareth to Lawrence of Arabia, including for some scenes in one of my favorites, Gladiator.

First time India

Well not long back from my first trip with the Adventure Company and to be honest cant wait untill i go again. Myself and my partner decided to go on the Himalayan Foothills trip in India and to say it was the best trip of my life is a under statement. The guide we had (Audhesh) was a charming, knowledgable, good natured man if ever i had met one. He knew his stuff inside out and added the icing on the cake for a great trip.

Mature trekkers can do Toubkal in the winter

At age 57 I was unsure of my ability to reach the summit of Toubkal in winter (February). I did Kilimanjaro 4 years ago (Marangu route), but expected Winter Toubkal to be much tougher. In preparation I undertook general fitness training (running, cycling and walking), and consider myself to be reasonably fit.

Out of Africa - Part one

Either through meticulous planning or sheer luck we have managed to get two full days in South Africa on the day of arrival and departure. Our flight is at 10.40 from the relatively quiet Cape Town Airport which will give us time to explore the Pringle Bay area.

Out of Africa - Part Two

As he stalked Zebra and Eland – utilising the same techniques employed by generations of more experienced trappers - Colin spied a long legged grey haired specimen of mature years running along the dirt track towards him. Initially surprised at the speed, agility and athleticism he wondered in awe if there was a chase going on. Looking at the characteristics it was difficult to determine the exact classification and it was only when this strange species approached without fear or trepidation that he determined that it was in fact a very fit old man.

Out of Africa - Part Three

The lack of shut eye over the last 3 weeks finally caught up with me and I slept in this morning. I was up at 6.00 instead of my usual 5.00!

Adventure Holidays and before up till now

Well I've done too many 'package deal' places in Spain, Greece, Turkey and Tunisia. Mostly finance led choices altough I have to say that some of them have been very good holidays, but these have generally been when I was younger and enjoyed a few drinks too many.

A little more adventurous was my short stint on a Kibbutz but 3 weeks of rain when I got there and getting high on fumes in a boot factory for 6 days out of 7 was not really my idea of fun.

Out of Africa - Part Four

Even the best things have to come to an end, and it was with emotional farewells that we said goodbye to each other in Cape Town today. A short trip to Hout Bay and the trip was over by 12.00.

A tour of China

I love traveling and was excited to find a single travel company that did tours of China. I was nervous and excited at the thought of meeting new people and seeing a new country within the safety of a group. I met with my fellow travelers in the VIP lounge in Heathrow and quickly got chatting about our expectations.
