The Amazon or not to Amazon?
What a perfect end to a breath taking trip. I’d cruised Lake Titicaca, walked the Inca Trail and seen Machu Picchu in all its glory. Did I want to go home – no!
After saying goodbye to my group that I had spent the last week with, I joined another group of people who had been travelling on other Adventure Company trips. There were 12 of us in total, some had been trekking the High Inca Trail others has spent 3 weeks taking in the sights and sounds of Peru.
We caught our internal flight to Puerto Maldonado, repacked our bags and then started an epic journey into the Amazon jungle. When they say you are heading into another world, they weren’t far wrong. Firstly, we caught motorised canoe and headed down river, we then walked for an hour through the jungle (we arrived late so some of this was in the dark) taking in the sounds! Finally we boarded another canoe and the crew paddled through the mangroves onto the lake where you could see a faint light of the lodge.
We were in the middle of nowhere!
Everyday has so much to do…you head out onto the lake keeping your eyes pealed for the bird life, caiman and the family of 7 giant otters that live in the lake. We were so lucky, we saw the elusive Giant Otters twice! We also had fabulous views of the macaws and the sunsets were something not to be forgotten.
You get a chance to do a night walk through the jungle with your torch…you will be amazed at what you see!
The whole experience is fantastic and you are very well looked after by the team at the lodge.

I really like your trip and may I can enjoy this trip because I also like the lake trip. I want to give a suggestion for every person that every family should go to holiday on there; it is really very nice place. I hope every person (who went to there) will never forget this trip. I can imagine that you were really enjoy your trip and I hope would like to go again that nice place.
