Costa Rica Holidays
Natural wonders of Costa Rica
A nature lovers’ paradise, Costa Rica holidays are a unique destination. Sitting proudly between the Caribbean and the Pacific, its topography is lined with volcanoes and it has an extraordinarily diverse climate and ecosystem - particularly when it comes to tropical forest. This combined with an unusually well-developed sense of environmental consciousness, makes holidays to Costa Rica a wonderful theatre in which to observe tropical nature at its best. National parks, wildlife refuges and private reserves protect over 25 per cent of the country and the richness of its colourful bird population alone is enough to stir enthusiasm in even the least interested of twitchers!
For outdoor enthusiasts, adventure holidays to Costa Rica are a natural choice. From rafting the Pacuare River, to climbing to the summit of the smoking Irazu Volcano to horse riding and taking a canopy tour in Monteverde National Park, it is a country designed to explore! Hiking in rainforest reveals further natural wonders as you look out for wildlife and no Costa Rica holidays would be complete without visiting Tortuguero National Park, home of 13 of the country’s 16 endangered mammal species and an area famed as a natural turtle hatchery.
Costa Rica Holidays Map
A recent traveller to Costa Rica shared their experiences on this blog post.
"Costa Rica is often described as the Switzerland of Latin America, though not on account of its jagged peaks, in fact, apart from a couple of smoldering volcano's the country is largely dominated by cloud forest. With no army, Costa Rica is considered a safe choice for first time adventurers."
Family holidays to Costa Rica
A brilliant family holiday destination for those who love the natural world, Costa Rica holidays are the perfect place to explore together. Families with a sense of adventure looking for an activity holiday will love rafting through the jungle down a fast flowing river, climbing volcanoes, going zip-lining above the rainforest canopy and getting ‘hands on’ at a turtle conservation project, learning about (and taking part in) the work being done to protect these amazing animals.
A family holiday in Costa Rica has something for all the family including exciting adventures and comfortable hotels. Cathy and Mark recently returned from Costa Rica.
"The white-water rafting was exciting and the iguana restaurant was good fun, the boat trip was very nice too (even though we didn't spot any dolphins)! Yes, Costa Rica is very easy to travel to so would suit all ages really. It had very high standard of the hotels, 4 star standard rather than the usual 3 star standard."
