While heading out of the cities, there is the vast amount of wildlife and glorious natural wonders for your viewing pleasure and as well as a whole host of adventure holidays based around Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River.
The beautiful Zambezi river have long been a draw for all sorts of wildlife and African safari adventures, giving the country some of the most amazing national parks in Africa and the best game viewing and bird spotting opportunities imaginable. The big five, (the ‘must see’ animals on any Zimbabwe safari holiday) are all in residence and the Hwange National Park hosts over 100 mammal and 400 bird species, including 19 large herbivores and eight large carnivores. All Zimbabwe's specially protected animals are to be found in Hwange and it is the only protected area where gemsbok and brown hyena occur in reasonable numbers. The Zambezi River itself offers further superb wildlife and bird watching opportunities and the parks on the riverbanks make for some stunning safari lodge or wilderness camping experiences. Something not to miss on Zimbabwe holidays.
For a taste of active Africa, the town and park of Victoria Falls is the adventure capital of the entire continent. As well as visiting the falls, active adventure is the name of the game here with opportunities to go rafting, micro lighting, kayaking and bungee jumping just some of the options open to adventurers, whether you are a travelling alone, with companions or making the most of your family adventure holidays.
No matter activities you do, the falls however can not be over shadowed. Known locally as Mosi oa Tunya (The Smoke That Thunders) it’s a mind blowing sight never to be forgotten, with millions of litres of water crashing through a mighty crack in the earth creating a spray that can be seen for miles.
