Adventures in Tunisia
Travel to Tunisia, just over three hours flight away, and enjoy a great introduction to North Africa and a brilliant destination for active adventure holidays, offering an alluring combination of non-stop sunshine, glorious beaches and superb ancient ruins. Coastal Tunisia has long been a popular get away for tourists, but to really discover the best that this amazing country has to offer, you need to head slightly further inland and really scratch the surface.
Explore the walled medina of Sousse, haggling for bargains in the tangled souk and feel the past come to life in the imposing coliseum at El Djem – the third largest Amphitheatre in the Roman Empire. Get away from the tourist spots, and venture into the vast Sahara Desert, travelling by camel and staying overnight with local Bedouins in a traditional style tent, the awe-inspiring night sky a blanket of stars overhead. Enjoy the quiet havens of the beaches along the southern coastline and swim in emerald Mediterranean waters, or explore palm filled mountain oases where gorges, ruined villages and waterfalls combine.
Visit the underground cave dwellings in Matmata, staying underground in a troglodyte cave hotel and you’ll find yourself in an area made famous as Luke Skywalker’s home in Star Wars! In fact, the desert scenery found in many Tunisian holidays is unerringly familiar having featured in many, many films from Monty Python’s The Life of Brian to The English Patient.

Family Holidays to Tunisia
From time on ‘Tatooine’ (in Matmata) to a night under the desert stars, where you stay truly is part of the adventure when you holiday in the lesser explored regions of Tunisia, making this a great all round destination for a family adventure. There is much to occupy the whole family from commanding your very own ‘ship of the desert’ as you explore the Sahara to swimming in the clear blue Mediterranean Sea.
