About yourself
I've lived around Alton since 1997, married to Charlotte, we've just joined the world of parenthood with Toby being born in December 2010. My passion is travel, walking, watching sport and food! With a new baby our travels are likely to be more closer to home for the next couple of years but we're already planning which Family Adventure we'll do first!
What do you love most about your job?
I've worked for The Adventure Company for over 8 years, joining in May 2003. Its a great company to work for. I like the fact that we're still a relatively small team at the last count just under 40 staff, the reservations team all get on very well. The product we offer also helps - its hard not to get enthusiastic when your describing trekking amongst the towering peaks of Nepal or travelling across the Namib desert.
In my current role I've been researching and putting together our new schools programme which launches on our website in March 2011.
What is your most memorable travel experience?
My favourite countries are Peru and Nepal, both for the trekking experience. I love being in the mountains.
Where have you been?
Europe: France (Best of Mt Blanc trip), Spain, Andorra (Active in the Pyrenees trip), Italy, Cyprus (Kyrenia Trails), Turkey (Turkey Activity Week)
Africa: Morocco (Mount Toubkal Trek), Egypt (Felucca Adventure), Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia (Delta & Dunes)
Asia: Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Nepal (Annapurna Base Camp), Sri Lanka, India (Indian Wildlife)
Americas: Brazil (Brazilian Adventure), Peru x2 (Empire of the Inca and trekked in the north around Huraz) Costa Rica, USA, Canada
Oceanic: New Zealand, Fiji, Australia
Middle East: Jordan (Petra & Wadi Rum), UEA
Best travel tip
Try not to get too frustrated when you get delayed or things don't go quite to plan, travelling in developing countries can get to you if your used to European standards of punctuality - if you get delayed try to go with the flow and take in the experience of travelling in a exciting new culture and destination.
What inspires you to travel?
Getting away from the day to day routine, seeing new places and meeting new people. Trying new foods and trekking amongst the peaks. The sights and smells, the excitement as you get to the airport - you've checked in and your waiting for the journey to start!
Which Adventure Company trip is on your wanderlust?
Finland, Iceland or Sweden - I would love to see the Northern Lights
