Celine Fortin
Job Title
Product Manager Africa & Middle East
About yourself
Hi, my name is Celine and after spending the last 10 years overseas, partly on the road, I am now happy to settle down in lovely Alton to get involved behind the scenes here at The Adventure Company. After enjoying my extensive travels, I’m keen to get stuck into working on our trips in Africa and Middle East.
After leading Adventure tours for three and a half years in South and Central America, backpacking through Australia and New Zealand for one and a half years, and taking on the role of Destination Manager for nearly two years in Asia, where I was based in Bangkok, the most recent adventure was travelling, touring and volunteering in Africa, which has been love at first sight for me! Teaching English to a local school in Zanzibar, touring through Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania while experiencing my first wildlife safaris, and exploring South Africa’s many highlights was certainly an experience of a lifetime which shall inspire me everyday in my new role.
What do you love most about your job?
The diversity of task from the financial commercial part to the product development strategy and creativity, challenging and inspiring, designing trips to places I have experienced and loved or to other destinations I dream to explore.
What is your most memorable travel experience?
Being in Vietnam, in a local bus and meeting a local family that invited me to stay over to their place overnight, communicating with my hands and phrase book rising tons of laughter I was striked by their warmth and generosity in the most simple and authentic environment.
What is the funniest thing that has ever happened on a trip?
In Costa Rica, we were walking in Manuel Antonio NP and taking pictures of the white face cappucine monkeys when one of them went down, took one of our camera, walked away, looked at us, clicked on button, dropped the camera and ran up the tree with what sounded like a laugh, and as it happened he took a great shot of us all…
Where have you been?
Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Equador, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Cuba, Australia, New Zeeland, Thailand, Laos, Nepal, Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, England, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece, Germany, Egypt, Jordan.
Where are you going next? (wishlist for year ahead)
