Ben Fogle
I am happy to team up with The Adventure Company. I have spent time with the staff and am very impressed with their knowledge of the world and their trips.
Reading through the brochures many of the trips offered are very similar to adventures I’ve done, including climbing Kilimanjaro, trekking in Uganda, Nepal and along the Inca Trail and exploring the Ecuador; Cotopaxl and the Galapagos Islands.
Essentially the premise behind The Adventure Company’s trips and my recent Extreme Dreams programme is the same; taking individuals to unfamiliar places and giving them the opportunity to participate in activities and experiences beyond their wildest dreams.
So much so in Autumn 2012 I unveiled my new 13-day People of Peru trip, designed for The Adventure Company based on my favourite memories of Peru - getting off the beaten track in the Andes and kayaking to remote communities in Lake Titicaca.
A selection of my recent adventures
Extreme Andes, 2008
We spent eight weeks travelling the spine of the Andes from the Equator in Ecuador to the Tropic of Capricorn in Chile. The varying terrain included one of the world’s toughest mountains, virgin rainforest, the deepest canyon in the world and the driest desert on earth.
Papua New Guinea, Black Cat Trail, 2007
We travelled the length of the notorious Black Cat Trail, an old gold mining route, through the dense rainforest of PNG dating from WWII.
Nepal, 2007
Myself and my team trekked high into the Himalaya Mountains in search one of the highest lakes in the world at an altitude of 5,500m. The team trekked across snow and ice in a battle against the elements to reach the fabled lakes.
Uganda, Mountains of the Moon, 2007
One of my toughest expeditions to date; we crossed the notorious Bigo Bogs of Uganda in an attempt to reach and scale the 5,400m Mt Baker. The team had to contend with freezing conditions, guerrillas and mile upon mile of thigh high mud in their quest to reach the summit.
Libya, Sahara desert, 2007
Covering nearly 200 miles of Sahara desert we trekked across the sand dunes and vast desert wasteland in temperatures over 110 degrees in an attempt to reach the ancient city of Ghat.
Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, 2006
I successfully led a team to the summit of the Tanzanian mountain in the summer of 2006, making it my fourth 6,000m peak.
Kaiteur Falls, Guyana, 2006
I led a team of five adventurers on a 10 day journey through the primary rainforests of Guyana to the world’s highest single drop water falls, Kaiteur. The team navigated down anaconda infested rivers and survived a close nocturnal encounter with two jaguars.
Spitzbergen, The Arctic Circle, 2006
Again, I led a team across the frozen tundra of Spitzbergen, a Norwegian island above the Arctic Circle. We crossed the island East to West using dogs, on foot and on ski’s.
Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, 1995
I spent ten days on a scientific expedition around the islands and I’m still an active member of Friends of Galapagos.
Cotopaxi, Ecuador, 1994
I successfully summited the 6,000m peak in Ecuador, South America; the world’s tallest active volcano.
Amazon River, Brazil, 1994
I took two months to travel 3,000 miles up the Brazilian Amazon, beginning at the mouth, Belen and finishing in Iquitos, Peru.
Machu Picchu, Peru, 1994
I completed the Inca Trail, travelling overland from Cusco to the majestic Incan city, high in the Andes of South America.
