About us

The Adventure Company has been organising and running trips since 1996.

In 2011 we were awarded the British Standard 8848 by the Young Explorers Trust, recognising the policies and procedures we have in place when planning and operating school trips.

We are ATOL and ABTA bonded and are part of TUI PLC for peace of mind.  

We employ a team of around 40 staff, based in Alton in Hampshire. Antony and Angela are some of the most experienced adventure travel professionals in the business and are passionate about travel and doing the best for teachers.

British Standard BS 8848

In 2011 we were awarded the British Standard 8848 by the Young Explorers Trust in recognition of the policies and procedures we have in place when planning and operating trips, to ensure they are as safe as possible for all participants. 

BS 8848 sets out the actions and responsibilities essential for the provision of a risk-based safety management system for overseas visits. It enables us to objectively verify that our activities have been organised in accordance with the currently accepted best practice.

Compliance with BS 8848 demonstrates a safe approach to the planning and management of activities for all involved.

Health & Safety

There are of course risks involved in any travel or adventure program – we understand that travelling with a group of young people is a huge responsibility and we provide you with the expert back up that you need.

24-hour support
We have the expertise and support of a 24-hour Duty Office. As a subsidiary of Tui PLC we have highly skilled emergency response teams who are available on-call at all times throughout your trip.

Help with Risk Assessments
Our service includes assistance in completing your paperwork, we know this can be daunting and can take away some of this pressure from you.  All our trips are regularly audited to the highest standards.

Insurance
We provide fully comprehensive insurance that covers you for all activities undertaken on your trip.  Our insurers offer a 24hour UK based medical emergency service.  Cover included repatriation. 

Experienced leaders
We pride ourselves on the service provided by our in country leaders.  In most cases we use leaders from the country you will be visiting, because they know the country, its people and the language best. They provide your teaching staff with the best back up they can throughout the trip.  Leaders are chosen for their skills and enthusiasm in working with of young people as well as their expert subject knowledge.

Financial Security
Your money is safe with us.We are a fully licensed and bonded tour operator.  We hold Air Travel Organisers Licence (ATOL)6352 issued by and bonded with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and are members of ABTA (membership no. Y0766).  You can book with The Adventure Company in complete confidence that all monies paid to us are protected.
