Keith Lavender
Travel has always been in my blood and since joining The Adventure Company in 2003 I have been lucky enough to combine this passion with my work. My first adventure took place in Africa and after travelling across the Sahara Desert by truck I hitched down to Cape Town. Along the way I had many adventures including paddling down the River Congo in a dugout canoe - 1,000km taking just over a month! After a year of graft in Australia I then headed to Pakistan and the Karakorum mountain range - for some wonderful trekking and exploring; over the Khunjerab pass into China and endured the local transport system in Tibet. Needing a new challenge I shifted to two wheels to cycle from San Francisco to Mexico and beyond… I ended up shipping my bike home from Mexico City and carried on through Central and South America by local transport to Brazil. My last major adventure was to buy an old series III Land Rover and drive around West Africa - I set off and crossed the Sahara and visited diverse countries such as Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Benin and Togo to name a few.
As well as all this travel I’ve always loved the technical world and have been constantly amazed by the online phenomenon. I first joined The Adventure Company to set-up their e-sales team and now run the website and am responsible for all aspects of our e-commerce strategy.
