My wanderlust started with a trip to Australia, which included working on a tourist boat in the Whitsunday islands, and in a tropical plant nursery. Then home through S.E. Asia - the Bat caves in Sarawak were amazing and I still smile at the memory of the Winston Churchill museum in Bandar Seri Begawan. In Darjeeling we visited the Tibetan Refugee Centre where some children tried to persuade us to take a puppy home with us. After that 2 weeks on the beach didn’t have much appeal so later holidays included Peru and Bolivia, including the Inca Trail and the wonderful Valle de la Luna near La Paz. I also have the perfect excuse to go back to China having failed to see the Great Wall when there on a cycling holiday in the mid 80s – our guide was supposed to be waiting by the road to tell us when to turn left for the wall, unfortunately we missed him and went cycling off into the distance in completely the wrong direction!
Since joining The Adventure Company I have been able to indulge my love of travel again after many years of more modest, child based, holidays and had a brilliant time with my son, on a teenage holiday, exploring the Western desert of Egypt. There is still a great deal more to see and a great many more people to meet, still on my list is the stunning karst island landscape of northern Vietnam.
